Parental Involvement

Children learn best when the significant adults in their lives - parents, teachers, and other family and community members work together to encourage and support them.

Parental Involvement

In our school we place a huge emphasis on parental involvement. The role of the Home School Community Liaison Coordinator involves working with and supporting parents in building up the links between home and school. This teacher also visits some parents in their home. Throughout the year, many other activities will be organised for parents and children. Please keep an eye out on the website, the newsletters, the HSCL notice boards and notes in your child’s school bag for details of these.

Breakfast Mornings

Every THURSDAY at 8.30, parents/guardians are invited to call in to the Home-School Community Liaison Room for tea, coffee and a chat. One Thursday a month, also at 8.30, we organise a special Breakfast Morning, where parents/guardians of a particular class level are invited to come and share breakfast. The classes involved will provide the entertainment – Singing a song or saying a poem! Here are the dates of these special breakfast mornings – Looking forward to seeing you there!

How else can I get involved?

There are many ways in which you can get involved in your child’s schooling. These include gardening, reading time, changing books, Art in your child’s class, speaking to your child’s class about a historical event or a religious festival, sports day, school trips, library activities etc. If you would like to get involved in an activity in your child’s class, please speak to their class teacher or to Marian. If you have any other ideas on how you could get involved, we would love to hear them!

Other activities
Reading Time, Literacy for Fun and Irish Activities will all be starting in the coming year. Keep an eye on the newsletter and HSCL notice boards for more information!

For any activities that involve being with the children, we need you to fill out a Garda Vetting form first, as required by new legislation. If you would like to help out with any pupil activities e.g. Art, Maths for Fun, Sports Day, School Tours, “Be Active”, Library activities, Baking etc…, please collect a form from the office or from outside the HSCL room.

If you need any help at all, please ask Mary or Erica. All completed forms need to be returned to Mary, in an envelope. They will be treated confidentially by Mary and by Educate Together, who process them for the school.

As soon as your form has been processed and returned to the school, we will let you know.

Many thanks to the all those parents who have already completed Garda Vetting for the school. This is just one of the many measures we take at CETNS to keep your children safe.
